Today, we learned how to say numbers with two or more digits in Japanese. For two-digit numbers, just combine tens and ones. For example, 21 is “ni-juu ichi” and 35 is “san-juu go.”
For three-digit numbers, we add hundreds. For example, 100 is “hyaku,” 200 is “ni-hyaku,” and 345 is “san-byaku yon-juu go.” (Some numbers change a little, like 300 → “sanbyaku” and 600 → “roppyaku,” so watch out for those!)
Thank you for coming to the lesson. Since we didn’t have a lesson last week, it was our first class in two weeks. As a make-up for last week, we will have two consecutive lessons next week, so please don’t forget. We created sentences using the onomatopoeia introduced two weeks ago. I’m glad to see that you have a good understanding of their meanings.
